McKesson announces management changes
McKesson Corp. (San Francisco, Calif.) announced a series of management changes in its Pharmaceutical Solutions and Medical-Surgical Solutions segments reporting to Paul Julian, executive VP and group president. Effective April 1, the start of McKesson’s new fiscal year, these executives will have new roles: John Figueroa, becomes president, U.S. Pharmaceutical Distribution, Gary Muensterman becomes senior VP, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, reporting to Marc Owen, executive vice president, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Brian Tyler becomes president, McKesson Medical-Surgical and Patrick Blake becomes president, McKesson Specialty Pharmaceutical, McKesson Pharmacy Systems and Automated Prescription Systems.
HemoSense names Chisholm as VP of corporate accounts
HemoSense Inc. (San Jose, Calif.) recently named Andrew Chisholm as VP of corporate accounts. Chisholm has served as the company’s director of corporate accounts since 2005. In his new position he will be responsible for continuing the expansion and management of the distribution network for the company’s INRatio PT/INR Monitoring System. HemoSense develops, manufactures and markets handheld blood coagulation systems for monitoring patients taking warfarin.
HPPI promotes Blucher & Hall
Irving, Texas-based HealthCare Purchasing Partners International (HPPI) announced the promotions of Dan Blucher to VP of sales and Russell Hall to VP of operations. Blucher will provide leadership for the acute and non-acute sales activity and inbound customer support. Prior to HPPI, he served as senior director of e-commerce business development at Novation. Hall will oversee portfolio marketing, finance, membership, the 340B Prime Vendor Program and new business development for HPPI. Previously, Hall served as senior director of standardization programs at Novation.
Myocor Inc. names Hickey as president and CEO
Maple grove, Minn.-based Myocor Inc. announced the appointment of James Hickey Jr. as its new president and CEO. Hickey previously worked for Pulmonetic Systems, Inc. (Minneapolis, Minn.) (acquired by Viasys Inc). He served as president and CEO of Angeion Corp. (Saint Paul, Minn.) and Aequitron Medical Inc. (Minneapolis, Minn.).
Cincinnati Sub-Zero Products Names Mark Beran VP and General Manager of Medical Division
Cincinnati Sub-Zero Products announced the appointment of Mark Beran as its new VP and general manager of the Medical Division. In his new position, Beran will oversee the design, manufacturing, sales and marketing efforts of the medical division team.
Schiller America names Eddins director of national and corporate accounts
Joe Eddins has joined Schiller America as its new director of national and corporate accounts. Eddins comes to Schiller from PBM/LifeSign, where he served as director of sales and national accounts manager for the past two years. He has extensive experience in the medical manufacturing field.
Quidel Corp. appoints leaders to advisory board
Quidel Corp. (San Diego, Calif.), a provider of rapid point-of-care diagnostic tests, recently held its first meeting of the company’s newly formed Infectious Disease Medical Advisory Board. The meeting focused on the appropriate utilization and evidence-based outcomes associated with the use of rapid tests for influenza in public health, emergency preparedness and seasonal as well as pandemic planning. Chaired by Stanford Schulman, M.D., Division Chief and Professor of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University School of Medicine, the Quidel Infectious Disease Medical Advisory Board Members include: Chair Kathryn Edwards, M.D., Ann Falsey, M.D., Kent Lewandrowski, M.D., James Nichols, Ph.D., Joel Tsevat, M.D., Lance Jennings, Ph.D., Bryan Abramowitz, M.D. and Steve Beutler, M.D.
Soderberg named CEO of Hillenbrand Industries
Hillenbrand Industries Inc. (Batesville, Ind.), a maker of hospital furniture and funeral caskets, recently announced that Peter Soderberg will become the new CEO, effective March 20, 2006. Soderberg has been a member of the Board of Hillenbrand Industries since 2002 and will succeed Rolf Classon, who has been interim CEO since May 2005. Soderberg is currently serving as president and CEO of Welch Allyn Inc. (Skaneateles Falls, N.Y).
SurgiCount Medical promotes Bertran to president
Santa Monica, Calif.-based Patient Safety Technologies Inc. (PST) announced that Rick Bertran has been promoted to president of its wholly-owned subsidiary, SurgiCount Medical Inc. Bertran served prior as SurgiCount’s executive VP of global sales and marketing. He will help in the roll out of the company’s patented Safety-Sponge System, as it readies for distribution into U.S. hospitals currently scheduled for this spring.
GE Healthcare promotes Vachon
GE Healthcare (Waukesha, Wisc.) announced the promotion of Mark Vachon to the position of president and CEO of the company’s Diagnostic Imaging business. Vachon replaces Reinaldo Garcia, who has been named president and CEO of GE Healthcare – International (Buc, France). Garcia will drive expansion plans in Europe, Middle East and Asia Growth Markets.
InteGreat welcomes Ries to its management team
InteGreat (Scottsdale, Ariz.), a provider of electronic health records, announced the addition of Tim Ries as VP of sales. Ries has more than 15 years of healthcare information technology sales and sale management experience and will strategically lead InteGreat’s national sales initiatives to facilitate growth and enhance profit margins. Ries previously worked at GE Healthcare (Waukesha, Wisc.) as a West Coast zone manager and as VP of sales for Millbrook (Dallas, Texas).
CDEX appoints two new directors
Rockville, Md.-based CDEX Inc. announced that Malcolm Philips, chairman of the board of directors, and John Knubel, director, submitted their resignations to the board of directors, effective Feb. 3, 2006. The board of directors has appointed James Griffin, president and CEO of CDEX as an inside director and Donald Strickland, an outside director, to fill these two vacancies, and serve on the board until such time as they stand for election at the company’s annual shareholder’s meeting on March 17, 2006. Dr. B.D. Liaw was elected by the board to succeed Philips as chairman. Strickland will serve as the chairman of the financial committee, replacing Knubel. Griffin will serve as secretary of the board, and a member of the financial committee.
Bowen to retire from Amerinet
St. Louis-based Amerinet Inc. announced the retirement of Robert “Bud” Bowen as CEO, effective March 31, 2006. Amerinet will continue under the leadership of Todd Ebert, president of Amerinet. Bowen joined Amerinet at its formation in 1986 as senior VP, responsible for all contracting activities. Promoted to executive VP in 1988, Bowen served as the company’s COO until the board of directors appointed him president in January 1998. The board named Bowen CEO in July 2004.
ONI Medical Systems names Pellerito as President and CEO
ONI Medical Systems Inc (Wilmington, Md.) announced that it has named Peter Pellerito as president and CEO. Pellerito previously served as VP and general manager for GE Healthcare (Waukesha, Wis.) Ultrasound business and held leadership positions at Advanced Technology Laboratories (Feasterville, Pa.).
